Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: Bloodhound Gang.
Regular readers of this weekly series will notice that most artists who have covered Kim Wilde songs haven't exactly had a hit-laden career. It's different for this week's act, as the Bloodhound Gang can claim to have had at least one worldwide hit: the 1999 track 'The bad touch'. This euro-disco track contained the infectious line 'You and me baby ain't nothing but mammals so let's do it like they do on the Discovery Channel', which gave them a number 1 hit in Germany and Sweden and a top 10 hit in most other European countries - and peaking at number 52 in the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
But before that, in 1995 actually, the Bloodhound Gang released their debut album 'Use your fingers'. That album was an eclectic mix of hiphop-influenced tracks, sampling Michael Jackson and Duran Duran in the single 'Mama say' plus a cover of Kim Wilde's 'Kids in America'. The track reappeared in 2000: on the band's cd-single for 'The inevitable return of the great white dope' it was a bonus track.
