Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. In this first installment: Foo Fighters.
The first Cover Friday could easily have served up the very first cover of a Kim Wilde song, but we thought it would be nice to present something very recent instead. Especially since Foo Fighters have been in the news over the last week, since they were forced to cancel several shows including Glastonbury Festival after frontman Dave Grohl broke his leg onstage in Sweden.
The Foo Fighters were originally covered by Kim Wilde in 2007 during a live concert: she performed their song No way back. The band decided to return the favour earlier this year, by including Kim's 'Kids in America' on their EP 'Songs from the Laundry room', which was issued for Record Store Day. Originally meant as a celebration of independent record stores, Record Store Day has now changed into a golden opportunity for online sellers who are reselling their limited edition records for explosive prices on sites like Ebay and Discogs.
Fortunately, you can hear the band's version of 'Kids in America' online as well; check out the video below. As far as cover versions go, it's quite straightforward with screaming guitars and loud vocals. It has been done numerous times before, as you will probably hear in future installments of Cover Friday on Wilde Life.
