Kim Wilde's first records were written and produced by her father and brother, Marty and Ricky. The three of them have had a great influence on the music world, as this regular series 'Wilde World' shows.
Dominic Grant was born on August 21, 1949 in London (UK) and debuted in 1968 with his solo single 'I've been there'. His second single, released in 1969, was a cover of 'In the night', a song written by Marty Wilde and Ronnie Scott. The song appeared on Marty's album 'Diversions' and was released as a single. However, it was covered almost simultaneously by Dutch singer Ben Cramer and Dominic Grant, who also released the song as a single. None of the versions actually became a hit - which is astounding because the song does stick in your head once you've heard it.
Solo success eluded Dominic Grant. He ended up joining Guys 'n' Dolls in 1974, a group that was successful throughout the Seventies and the first half of the EIghties. In 1986, he left the group to pursue a career as country singer together with his wife Julie Forsyth. Besides music, Dominic is also a sculptor these days, as you can see on his official website.
