Cover Friday: DJ Rasputin

Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: DJ Rasputin.

This week's cover version is a techno/hardtrance variation on the Kim Wilde track 'Cambodia'. Created by Belgian DJ and producer DJ Rasputin, this version bears little resemblance to the beautiful midtempo ballad created by the Wildes, but that is perhaps why it is called 'Back 2 Cambodia', using only a small part of the song's melody, and adding lots of noise and inane exclamations.

DJ Rasputin is named Koen Roothooft in real life, and is based in Berchem, Belgium. This track appeared on his only release, a 12" record entitled 'Katyusha', released in 2007. As usual in this genre of 'music', the record was only released in a custom record company sleeve.
