Cover Friday: The Kids From Fame

Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: the kids from Fame.

It seems unlikely that early on in her career, one of Kim's songs would be picked up by an American TV show. Still, that is exactly what happened. After Kim had her breakthrough in America with 'Kids in America' in 1982, one of her other songs from that debut album was somehow picked up by the producers of the TV series 'Fame'. In the third episode of season 4, originally broadcast on October 13, 1984, Nia Peeples, Valerie Landsburg and company launched into a version of 'Young Heroes'.

Unfortunately their version was never included on one of the 'Fame' albums that were selling like hot cakes at the time, so all we have is the TV recording. But it's still a rather perplexing piece to look at.
