Throwback Thursday

Date

On June 8, 1986 (yep, that's 31 years ago today), Kim Wilde released the first single from her fifth album 'Another step'. It was called 'Schoolgirl', and it was only released in Europe and Australia. The photo on the sleeve, pictured here, was taken by Simon Marsh. Marsh was also responsible for the photographs on subsequent singles 'You keep me hangin' on' and 'Another step (closer to you)', as well as the album's sleeve. He went on to do artwork for Bananarama, Dead or Alive, Frances Ruffelle and Paul Weller.

Dressed in denim, Kim Wilde looked very much like the Oxfam girl again, wearing clothes she felt good in, as opposed to the conceptual image dreamed up by XL Design for her previous album, 'Teases & dares'. 'Schoolgirl' was a modest hit in Denmark and Germany, but her next single would become a massive success.... It was of course 'You keep me hangin' on'.
