Throwback Thursday

On June 29, 1981, Kim Wilde's self-titled debut album was released. With the preceding singles 'Kids in America' and 'Chequered love' she'd already made a name for herself, so the album was highly anticipated.

The artwork included two photographs by Gered Mankowitz: one on the front featuring Kim with her band, and one on the back with Kim alone. Of course, more photographs were made on the day of this photo shoot, but only the sleeve of 'Water on glass' (released three weeks after the album) revealed another shot. The photo below was never used on any artwork, and as far as we know it never appeared in any magazine article. It's an interesting variation on some iconic photographs.
