There was some controversy when Kim Wilde released the music video for 'Say you really want me' in July 1987, 30 years ago. It showed her on a bed with four men in boxer shorts, although they seemed more interested in themselves than they were in Kim, as they were mostly stroking their own chests.
When the video was not shown on the ITV children's show Get Fresh, with producer Mike Forte saying: "It's far too naughty for the nine-year-olds who watch us." Record company MCA happily made use of this fact by throwing the story out there, hoping it would generate more interest from the public. Kim was not at all surprised that the video was not shown in the children's show at the time. But in 2014 she reflected: "Today, children can find much worse things on the internet quite easily, much worse things."
