Kim Wilde's comeback in the music world was a little tentative at first. She released a compilation album to promote the Here & Now Tour she undertook in 2001, while she was still busy recording gardening programmes for the BBC. When she was approached by a German producer to record a cover version of 'Born to be wild' for the German touring car racing championships in 2002, she agreed, thinking that it was another nice 'one-off' project. The CD-single was released on October 14, 2002, and became a minor hit in Switzerland only.
Kim did a little promotion for the song. She appeared during one of the races in Germany and also performed the song in a German TV programme. On October 12, 2002 she did a lipsynch performance in the programme Was passiert wenn. To date, this remains the only television performance of that song. This week's Throwback Thursday photograph was taken during her appearance in the programme.
