Kim Wilde's first records were written and produced by her father and brother, Marty and Ricky. The three of them have had a great influence on the music world, as this regular series 'Wilde World' shows.
Born on May 6, 1953, Ernst Daniël Smid made a name for himself in the Netherlands as a singer and presenter. After completing an education at the Amsterdam Conservatory he performed in several operas, such as Faust and Le Nozze di Figaro. After performing in Mannheim, Wuppertal and Belfast, he started acting in musicals in the Netherlands, such as Les Miserables and Sweeney Todd.
In 1992 he released his first solo album with chansons in Dutch. Together with other classical singers Henk Poort and Marco Bakker he released the album 'Three baritones' in 1995. Two more solo albums followed in 2002 and 2004, until in 2005 he released 'Als de dag van toen' ('Like in the old days'), featuring the song 'Samen een straatje om', previously recorded by Rudi Carrell, André van Duin and Luc Steeno as a Dutch version of 'Love me, love my dog'.
