Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: Tommy and the Rockets.

When covering Kim Wilde, most rock-oriented go for her debut single, 'Kids in America'. So it's always a nice surprise when a band decides to choose a different track. In the case of the Danish band Tommy and the Rockets, they recorded a version of 'Chequered Love'.

Describing themselves as 'the essence of the Beach Boys, Rockpile, and The Ramones all rolled into one', Tommy and the Rockets have been around since 2016. The band is named after Thomas Stubgaard who has been the sole stable member of the band since the beginning. Several split albums have been released in the past five years, plus an album of covers of songs by the Ramones, entitled 'I Wanna Be Covered'.

'Chequered Love' appears on their latest release, a split album with Psychotic Youth entitled 'Scandinavian Flavor'. You can hear the cover version below, and if you are interested head on over to the band's Bandcamp page for more of this retro rock sound.
