Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: Patty Brard.
The Dutch singer and presenter Patty Brard first made a name for herself as a member of the girl group Luv' during the 1970s. They had international success with hits like 'You're the Greatest Lover', 'Trojan Horse' and 'Casanova'. Patty left the band in 1980, which effectively ended the trio's most popular era, despite an attempt to replace her. Meanwhile, Patty went to America and produced three solo albums together with her second husband Carlo Nasi, an heir and descendant of Giovanni Agnelli, founder of the FIAT company.
The third of these albums, 'Red Light' (1986), features the track 'Dancing in the Dark', which was recorded by Kim in 1983. Patty's version features more horns (performed by session musicians Chuck Finley, Gary Grant, Gary Herbig and Jerry Hey) but is otherwise quite similar to Kim's version. You can listen to it here.
