Cover Friday: Chaos Engine

Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: The Chaos Engine.

Not many bands manage to have a rough image and cover pop acts like Kim Wilde and Aqua at the same time. However, the Cheltenham-based industrial rock band The Chaos Engine pulled it off in 2000, when they tacked on cover versions of ‘Kids in America’ and ‘Barbie girl’ to their album ‘More songs about sex & angels’, their third album release.

While they released a fourth album in 2002 and did some live dates in 2004, they seem to have dissolved since. What remains is an interesting take on Kim’s debut album, with loud and distorted vocals and cheap synths.
