Cover Friday: Fanny Cheng

Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: Fanny Cheng.

When you collect cover versions of Kim Wilde songs, it’s certainly worth looking all over the world. If you’re looking for covers of ‘Kids in America’, you’ll often find American punkrock bands, ‘Chequered love’ is quite popular with German artists, and for ‘Four letter word’ you’ll need to head to the far east.

This week’s cover version comes from Fanny Cheng, or 鄭瑞芬 as she is known in Hong Kong. Her debut album ‘Be my baby’ was released in 1989 and featured a Chinese language cover version of Kim’s ‘Four letter word’ (entitled 愛這個字), which you can listen to here. After a second album and a greatest hits compilation she left the music business in 1993 and went back to anonymity.
