Cover Friday: Rude Boy George

Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: Rude Boy George.

Rude Boy George is a bit of a weird name for a band and they are not to be confused with the one and only Boy George. They are a New Jersey-based band that performs ska, rocksteady, and reggae versions of Eighties new wave and post-punk classics. If you like Eighties music, their entire repertoire should interest you, because they play the best songs of the era in a very interesting arrangement.

Inevitably, they have also recorded a cover version of ‘Kids in America’, which after all is one of the best songs of the Eighties. After many rock-oriented cover versions, it is refreshing to hear a reggae/ska-infused version of this classic song. Check out the band’s Bandcamp page for all of their recorded work to date.
