Born in Brixton, South London on June 13, 1963, Angie Brown became best known as the featured vocalist on Bizarre Inc’s two hits ‘I’m Gonna Get You’ (1992) and ‘Took My Love’ (1993), and as the featured vocalist on Motiv8’s top twenty UK track from 1994, ‘Rockin’ for Myself’.
Before this, she was a brief member of the group Thrashing Doves (known at that stage of their career as The Doves), and performed lead vocals on their single ‘Beaten up in love again’. She became a sought after session singer/songwriter and live performer. She worked with, amongst many others, Jocelyn Brown, Grace Jones, Ronan Keating, Emma Bunton, Lisa Stansfield and the Happy Mondays.
Together with Billie Godfrey, she was a backing vocalist for Heaven 17 for many years, including during the Here & Now tours in the early 2000’s.
She appeared as a backing vocalist on Kim Wilde’s Come Out and Play album, on the tracks Greatest Journey and Suicide.
