Song written by Neil Sedaka and Howard Greenfield. It was first recorded by Sedaka in 1973 and released as a single in France. Soon after, the brother and sister vocal duo Mac and Katie Kissoon released the song as a single, and this version was the first to chart, peaking at number 12 in the Dutch Top 40 in December.

The couple also recorded a Spanish version of the track, entitled 'Por amor viviremos', which got to number 49 in the US Billboard Hot 100 charts, while the English-language version was still in that chart as well.
