You spin me round (like a record)

Song written by Pete Burns, Steve Coy, Wayne Hussey, Tim Lever and Mike Percy and originally recorded by their band Dead or Alive.

Dead or Alive version

Pete Burns admitted in his autobiography that two songs were the inspiration for 'You spin me 'round': 'I wanted your love' by Luther Vandross and 'See you 'round like a record' by Little Nell. During the recording of the song, producers Stock, Aitken and Waterman took on a confrontational attitude, which was met by an equally confrontational attitude from the band. The record company was unenthusiastic about the song, so Burns took out a £2,500 loan to record it. After its original release on November 5, 1984, the single topped the UK singles chart, as well as reaching top 10 almost worldwide.

Kim Wilde version

Kim Wilde performed the song live during a six date tour in the Netherlands in October 2016 as part of the encore, plus subsequent live concerts in 2017.
