Lyrics

You – you’ve known that right from the start
Like – like a caress in my heart
There’s a whisper in the morning flowing from the sea
It’s saying this is the night to be what you wanna be

And I wanna be with you
and touch in the way lovers do
Though we’ve only known each other for just a day
You make it easy for me to say what I’m gonna say

I wanna be loved by you
is there anything else I can do
I wanna be kissed by you
wanna spend all the night loving you

A kiss is the best place to start
As words disappear in the dark
I can hear the words you’re saying, the words are few
‘cos we don’t need any words to do what we’re gonna do

I wanna be loved by you
is there anything else I can do
I wanna be kissed by you
wanna spend all the night loving you

I wanna be loved by you
is there anything else I can do
I wanna be kissed by you
wanna spend all the night loving you

Wanna be kissed by you
Wanna spend all the night loving you
Loving you

Lovers on a Beach

Lyrics

Lovers on a beach
Lovers on a beach
Two naked hands lay on the sand
when all the world was out of reach
Through the shuttered doors
The music filtered through
Playing on a theme that couldn’t run

Lovers on a shore
Lovers on a shore
The heavy wine of broken time
but now they’re gone it’s nothing more
Looking back on days
when summer seemed so long
now there’s only winter nights to come

And oh – sometimes she’s missing you
she hears the shore
she feels it more
And out there the waves are breaking
Back here her heart is aching

Lovers on a beach
Lovers on a beach
Two silhouettes were on a shore
but now they’re lost and out of reach
Now on lonely roads
The flashbacks lead to you
Like a faded photograph in time

Oh lovers (lovers, lovers, lovers, lovers…)

And oh just as she’s missing you
she hears the shore
She feels it more
And out there the waves are breaking
Back here her heart is aching

Lovers on a beach
Lovers on a beach
Two naked hands they’re on the sand
when all the world was out of reach

Lovers on a beach
Lovers on a beach
Lovers
Lovers
Lovers on a beach
Lovers
Lovers
Lovers

Just Another Guy

Written by Ricky and Marty Wilde. Not included on the album Select, this track was the B-side to the 7″ and 12″ single Child Come Away.
It was first released on CD in 1998 on the compilation album Collection.

Lyrics

Wow Billy what a day
Never thought of seeing you here
Funny how it goes
Never thought I’d see you fall
I heard you’re down on luck
and now I can see it all

Judy took a train
Judy took a train to nowhere
Weeping on a phone
Never to recieve her call
So you remember well
Now I don’t need you at all

You’re just another guy
with just another lie
You’re just another guy
with just another lie
I’ve been around too long

Hit me like a shot
When he sent your heart to nowhere
It really is a shame
You shouldn’t let your big heart show
But then it’s no big deal
Moving around it, I know

You’re just another guy
with just another lie
You’re just another guy
with just another lie
I’ve been around too long

Gotta say goodbye
Gonna catch a train to nowhere
I didn’t wanna lie
I didn’t mean to come on strong
But then it’s no big scene
Hanging around…

You’re just another guy
with just another lie
You’re just another guy
with just another lie
We could’ve had it all

I’ve Found a Reason

Song written by Ricky and Kim Wilde. Not included on the album Love Is, this track was released as the B-side of Who Do You Think You Are (Europe), Million Miles Away (Japan) and Heart over Mind (UK).

Lyrics

Been a long time alone now
Only live every day on my own terms
Doing everything my way
If you don’t understand you had to learn

You say you see a different world
That you don’t believe in what I say
Now you walk into my world
Aware of the danger
But you won’t turn away

Somewhere down the road I left a part of me behind
The girl you want to know left years ago
Before she lost her mind
You brought back the heart in me
I thought I’d never find
‘cos I didn’t care before
But now I’ve found a reason

Baby, how did you find me
I’ve been lost for so long without a trace
You came back to remind me
Got me back from a sad and lonely place

And all the ghosts have disappeared
You’ve taken away the things I’ve feared
I’ve turned my back on all the pain
You gave me a reason to llive my life again

Somewhere down the road I left a part of me behind
The girl you want to know left years ago
Before she lost her mind
You brought back the heart in me
I thought I’d never find
‘cos I didn’t care before
But now I’ve found a reason

You were there before my eyes
How could I have been so blind
I’ve got one life
I’ve been wasting time
You came to save this heart of mine

And all the ghosts have disappeared
You’ve taken away the things I’ve feared
I’ve turned my back on all the pain
You gave me a reason to llive my life again

Somewhere down the road I left a part of me behind
The girl you want to know left years ago
Before she lost her mind
You brought back the heart in me
I thought I’d never find
‘cos I didn’t care before
But now I’ve found a reason
Now I’ve found a reason

Hold Back

Song written by Ricky and Marty Wilde.
Not included on the album Another Step, this track was released as the B-side of the single Another Step (Closer To You). The track was released on cd for the first time in 2010 on the Cherry Pop remastered expanded edition of ‘Another step’.

Lyrics

Now when we started – no interventions
I wanted everything with no conditions
You took my love and told it to the world
But now it really changes things
The ring you wear belongs to someone else
Somebody else and my heart keeps saying

Hold back – Hold back your love
Baby it’s just a crazy thing to start
Hold back – Hold back your love
Maybe it’s just the easy way to part

Hold back – Hold back (Hold back, hold back…)

No denials – No introspection
I’m not competing for some true perfection
I wanted something that’s fine and that’s for sure
And now I wonder how she feels
‘cos in her heart she knows there’s someone else
Somebody else and I hear her saying

Hold back – Hold back your love
Baby it’s just a crazy thing to start
Hold back – Hold back your love
Maybe it’s just the easy way to part

Hold back – Hold back

Hold back (Hold back)
Hold back your love
Hold back (Hold back)
Hold back your love
(Baby…) Hold back (Hold back)
Hold back your love
Baby it’s just a crazy thing to start

Baby it’s just a crazy thing
you gotta hold back – hold back your love
(Hold back) – Hold back your love
(Hold back) – You gotta hold back your love
(ooh) You gotta hold back your love
(ooh) Hold back your love
Hold back (Hold back)
(ooh)
(ooh)
Hold back
(ad lib to fade)

Don’t Count Me Out

For some reason, the Australian release of Cambodia lists the B-side track Watching for Shapes as ‘Don’t Count Me Out’. Because of this little-known fact, the Australian single has achieved a little of a collectability value among fans. Despite the different title, the track is exactly the same as ‘Watching for Shapes’.

Lyrics

Fresh out of school, the young girl lose the sound
She’s gonna go where the young bands hang around
And it’s good to arrive with the vibes inside
She’s screaming, dreaming
And there’s no disguise when you look in her eyes she’s scheming

And thinking about the boys
She’s thinking about the boys
Thinking about the boys

There in the dark he starts to touch her hair
Others go round but right now you don’t care
Well you just don’t fight when they’re holding you tight
That feeling, feeling
Well it looks to good and he’s making it so appealing

I’m thinking about the boys
She’s thinking about the boys
Thinking about the boys

Still feeling ground as she goes to make the kill
Watching her move the world is standing still
Cos its still too right with a voice inside
It’s screaming, dreaming
And there’s no disguise when you look in their eyes she’s scheming

And thinking about the boys
She’s thinking about the boys
Thinking about the boys

Birthday Song

See also this page in the discography.

Live performances

‘Birthday song’ was performed live during the Perfect Girl Tour in 2007.

Kim about ‘Birthday song’

I wrote it for my little niece Scarlett, who is now nearly 18 and I think probably about to join us on stage quite soon. It’s a song about finding strength within yourself when life gets really tough, and it’s a strength we all have, but sometimes we forget it. It was a message to her as a child, to let her know that as she grew up she could always rely on the voice inside her, to help get her through the tough times. (1)

Lyrics

There’s a forest, a beautiful place
The sun always shines upon your face
and the wind blows away
the troubles inside your mind

You’ll find your secret garden
A place that nobody knows (nobody knows)
where you can go

(Scarlett) The world looks bright today but one day you’ll want to cry
(Scarlett) (Ah-ah) And when your sky looks grey
there’s one thing I hope you’ll know
There’s a place you can go

In the distance, your life in the wings
Who knows what emotions it will bring
But the secrets you hold will help you through anything

(Ah-ah) You’ll find your secret garden
(Ah-ah) A place that nobody knows (nobody knows)
where you can go

(Scarlett) The world looks bright today but one day you’ll want to cry
(Scarlett) (Ah-ah) And when your sky looks grey
there’s one thing I hope you’ll know
There’s a place you can go

Oh so don’t be afraid
If you trust the voice inside of you
It’ll guide you on your way
On your way

(Scarlett) The world looks bright today but one day you’ll want to cry
(Scarlett) (Ah-ah) And when your sky looks grey
there’s one thing I hope you’ll know
(Scarlett) You’ll find your secret garden
somewhere that you can go
(Scarlett) (Ah-ah) Somewhere where you can grow
Scarlett
There’s a place you can go

Back Street Driver

Alternative title for the song Back Seat Driver.

B-sides

A-side and B-side originally referred to the two sides of 7 inch vinyl records on which singles were released, beginning in the 1950s. The terms have come to refer to the types of song conventionally placed on each side of the record, with the A-side being the featured song (the one that the record producer hopes will receive radio airplay and become a hit), while the B-side, or flipside, is a secondary song that is considered a bonus. A ‘real’ B-side is a track that does not appear on the album which the single has been drawn from, or any other album by the same artist. Although the vinyl single has now become largely a thing of the past, a track on the CD-single that answers to the above criteria is often still called a ‘B-side’.

Throughout her career, Kim has released 21 ‘B-sides’ so far. They are:

Although Spirit in the Sky can be considered the B-side of the single Ever Fallen In Love, it was intended as a double A-side.
Finally, the songs Addicted To You, Carry Me Home and Party On The Brink were released as extra tracks on a digital deluxe version of the album Come Out And Play but could also be considered a B-side.

All About Me

Song written and produced by Ricky Wilde.
Bonus track on the CD-single for Born to be Wild, released in 2002.

Lyrics

Waking between night and day
I’m floating over hills and mountains
Trying to find a place I’ve never been
Throw my cares away
The sun kisses my soul
and peace has taken hold

It’s all about me
It’s not about you
I need to be free
I’ve got to be true
It’s nothing you said
It’s nothing you do
It’s all in my head
I’ve got to move on
Don’t have to be sad
You know that I care
I’ll never forget
the things that we shared
I know my heart
It never felt bad
It’s not about you

…It’s all about me
It’s all about me
