Closer (song)

Song written by Phil Thornalley & Chris Murrell. Kim Wilde performed backing vocals on this song by Johnny Hates Jazz. It appears on their second album ‘Tall Stories’, released in 1991.

Lyrics

All night I’ve been awake
You on my mind
I made a big mistake
To leave you behind
You know it’s hard to sleep
on a bed of nails
I know that I was wrong
You knew it all along

I was a fool nothing better to do
than fail again and blame it on you
Sometimes I don’t know how I’ll ever get you back
There’s so much I need to say
But you’re so far away

Ooh Just wanna get closer
Ooh Closer to you
Ooh Just wanna get closer, closer
That’s all I wanted to do

So when I wake up
I’ll count every move
I need to make
To get back to you
Who knows if time can heal
All that’s gone before
But in your eyes once more
Lights on a distant shore

Ooh Just wanna get closer
Ooh Closer to you
Ooh Just wanna get closer, closer
That’s all I wanted to do

They say there’s a northern light
Shining out there
They say there’s a happy life
Who can tell me where
They say that love can fly
Like smoke in the air
I don’t care what they say
When you’re so far away

Ooh Just wanna get closer
Ooh Closer to you
Ooh Just wanna get closer, closer
That’s all I wanted to do
Just to be close to you

Lyrics

Belle-Ile-en-Mer

Vous c’est l’eau c’est l’eau
Qui vous sépare
Et vous laisse Ă  part

Moi des souvenirs d’enfance
En France
Violence
Manque d’indulgence
Par les diffĂ©rences que j’ai
Café
LĂ©ger
Au lait mélangé
Séparé petit enfant
Tout comme vous

Je connais ce sentiment
De solitude et d’isolement

Comme laissé tout seul en mer
Corsaire
Sur terre
Un peu solitaire
L’amour je 1′ voyais passer
Ohé Ohé
Je 1′ voyais passer
Séparé petit enfant
Tout comme vous
Je connais ce sentiment
De solitude et d’isolement

Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime

Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann

‘Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime’ is based on the German song ‘Irgendwie, Irgendwo, Irgendwann’, written by Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen and Carlo Karges and featured on Nena’s third studio album ‘Feuer und Flamme’ which was released on June 25, 1985. Released as a single, it was a hit in Germany and the Netherlands.

In 2002, Nena released the album ‘Nena feat. Nena’. The album celebrated Nena’s 20 years as a recording artist, and featured new recordings of her most well-known songs. Some of the tracks were performed as duets.

Lyrics

Im Sturz durch Raum und Zeit
Richtung Unendlichkeit
Fliegen Motten in das Licht
Genau wie du und ich

Wrap your fingers ’round my neck
You don’t speak my dialect
But our images reflect
Drawn together by the flame
We are just the same
Embrace the wind and fall into
Another time and space

Gib’ mir die Hand
Ich bau dir ein Schloss aus Sand
Irgendwie irgendwo irgendwann

If we belong to each other, we belong
Anyplace anywhere anytime

Im Sturz durch Zeit und Raum
Erwacht aus einem Traum
Nur ein kurzer Augenblick
Dann kehrt die Nacht zurûck
Bits and pieces from your storm
Rain upon me as they form
Melt into my skin and I feel warm
Sweep upon me like a wave
We are young and brave
Embrace the wind and float into
Another time and space

Gib’ mir die Hand
Ich bau dir ein Schloss aus Sand
Irgendwie irgendwo irgendwann

If we belong to each other, we belong
Anyplace anywhere anytime
I’m going to any world you’re coming from
Anyplace anywhere anytime

(Drawn together by the flame)
(We are just the same)
(Embrace the wind and fall)
(Into another time and space)

If we belong to each other, we belong
Anyplace anywhere anytime
I’m going to any world you’re coming from
Anyplace anywhere anytime
