It’s a rock pop track, inspired by my band. When I wrote the song with some Swedish songwriters in Stockholm, I wanted to write a track that was gonna light up the stage. (1)
‘Kandy Krush’ came because I said I wanted to write a song that’s a bit like a Billy Idol sort of ‘White Wedding’ thing. Let’s go down that road. Everyone starts off with a ‘let’s try something a bit like that’ or, something kick it off. Billy Idol kicked off that song for us. (2)

There’s a light, there’s a light, there’s a light in your eyes tonight,
Feeling high, feeling high so high I’m gonna fly tonight.
Wanna know what I’m feeling?
Something here needs revealing.
Come here baby got to show you or I swear
I’m gonna die tonight!
Take a chance make it nice and slow.. oh oh oh..
Touch me I’ll follow and I’ll show you where to go.
Don’t be scared of this taste so sweet,
Is this a Kandy Krush I’m feeling?
Push the button, push push push the button cos
its right tonight.
Do you want to take a chance cos you know
I really might tonight.
Wanna know what I’m feeling?
Something here needs revealing.
Come here baby got to show you cos
I swear I’m gonna die tonight.
Taste so sweet, I want Kandy..
Taste so sweet, I want Kandy..
Born in Beverwijk (Netherlands) on 1 October 1980, Kim-Lian van der Meij is a Dutch singer, actress and presenter. She comes from a musical family: both her parents were dancers.
During her childhood, Kim-Lian participated in dancing contests and local playback shows. When she was six, she was a contestant in the Mini Playbackshow on Dutch national television, dancing and miming to Kim Wilde’s song You Keep Me Hangin’ On.
At sixteen, she enrolled in casting and modeling agencies. She was regularly asked for fashion shows, photo shoots and guest roles in TV series.
In September 2003 she released a single, ‘Teenage Superstar’, which became a Top 10 hit in the Netherlands. It led to her debut album, released in May 2004, called ‘Balance’. This album contained a cover of Kim Wilde’s song Kids in America. This cover was subsequently released as a single in the Netherlands, reaching no. 15. The album was released internationally and became very successful in countries like Belgium, Italy, Indonesia and South Africa. Her second album ‘Just Do It’ was released in 2006. It wasn’t as successful as her first album.
Kim-Lian moved on and focused on musical acting, starring in the Dutch musical ‘Doe Maar’ throughout 2007. In May 2008 she gave birth to her daughter Ronja Emma. After working in several other musicals and television programmes for two years, she gave birth to son Sean William in April 2010. This didn’t lead to a quiet life: she debuted in the musical ‘Legally Blonde’ in the Netherlands in October 2010.
Estonian version of the song Million Miles Away, written by Kim and Ricky Wilde with Estonian lyrics written by Andres Aule.
The song was recorded by the band Jam and released on a compilation cd called ‘Eesti Hit 6’ in 1996.
Läksin, valimata teed,
hinges valu, kuulsin, et sa hüüdsid mind.
Kuid ma siiski kurdiks jäin,
läksin otse, kui ei tunnekski ma sind.
Nüüd kui näen sind ainult piltidel
ja kiirelt möödub päeva järel päev,
aina kaugemaks sa jääd.
Kui mõistad mind, ehk tead
miks läksin, silmis naer, pööramata pead
Ehk tead, et kogu aeg mul oled silme ees,
Sind armastan ma veel….
Too kord unustasin vist, et oled ilus,
et sa oled õrn ja hea.
Uhkus peatuda ei lubanud,
nüüd kahetsen, kui mõistad mind, ehk tead.
Palun andesta mu vead.
Song written by David Bowie to his newborn son Duncan Jones.
Bowie recorded the song on his 1971 album ‘Hunky Dory’. It was a pastiche of early Seventies Neil Young, as he was listening to a Neil Young record at home as he got the news of the arrival of his son.
Kim Wilde recorded a cover of ‘Kooks’ for her 2011 album Snapshots as a duet with her husband Hal Fowler.
There are two versions of ‘Kooks’: the album version and the rough demo mix from the promotional cd of ‘Snapshots’.
In 1971 I was 11 years old, and one of the best things about my life at that time was my parents’ record collection. There’s amazing albums in there, I mean my mum had all the really iconic women like Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Aretha Franklin, Dusty Springfield and then my father, you know he had all the rock ‘n’ roll stuff, of course, he had quite a lot of classical music, he had things like ‘Tommy’, which would go on to become a very important album for me, and one of the albums I loved most of all was ‘Hunky Dory’ by David Bowie. I used to really love every song on that, especially ‘Life on Mars’, which was so incredible. An incredible song that really got my imagination going as an 11-year-old. But one of the songs on the album’s called ‘Kooks’. I was really touched by that song because it was a song that Bowie had written for his son. Bowie didn’t look like the kind of guy that would be writing lullabies to children at the time. But for me, I really connected with the song very strongly, so for the ‘Snapshots’ album I thought ‘Wouldn’t it be great to do that with my husband Hal’, my husband has got a beautiful voice, and he sings all the time in the West End, We hadn’t sung together ever, to be recorded that is, we sung together at home but not recorded together. So it was a really special day, I’m really chuffed he’s on the album but not as chuffed as he is, he’s over the moon about it. Which is really sweet. So you know, maybe we should do some more! (1)

Will you stay in our Lovers’ Story
If you stay you won’t be sorry
‘Cause we believe in you
Soon you’ll grow so take a chance
With a couple of Kooks
Hung up on romancing
Will you stay in our Lovers’ Story
If you stay you won’t be sorry
‘Cause we believe in you
Soon you’ll grow so take a chance
With a couple of Kooks
Hung up on romancing
We bought a lot of things to keep you warm and dry
And a funny old crib on which the paint won’t dry
I bought you a pair of shoes
A trumpet you can blow
And a book of rules
On what to say to people when they pick on you
‘Cause if you stay with us you’re gonna be pretty Kookie too
Will you stay in my Lovers’ Story
If you stay you won’t be sorry
‘Cause we believe in you
Soon you’ll grow so take a chance
With a couple of Kooks
Hung up on romancing
And if you ever have to go to school
Remember how they messed up this old fool
Don’t pick fights with the bullies or the cads
‘Cause I’m not much cop at punching
other people’s dads
And if the homework brings you down
Then we’ll throw it on the fire
And take the car downtown
Will you stay in our Lovers’ Story
If you stay you won’t be sorry
‘Cause we believe in you
Soon you’ll grow so take a chance
With a couple of Kooks
Hung up on romancing
Will you stay in our Lovers’ Story
If you stay you won’t be sorry
‘Cause we believe in you
Soon you’ll grow so take a chance
With a couple of Kooks
Hung up on romancing

Wild animals captivate us with their grace and beauty, their compelling strength and sensitivity, but we are increasingly aware of just how vulnerable they and their habitats have become. Knitwear designers Ruth Herring and Karen Manners have been inspired by this predicament of global proportion to create 19 fresh and exciting wildlife designs in association with the World Wide Fund for Nature, who receive royalties from this book.
Kim Wilde is one of the celebrities to model the garments. She appears on two pages in a sweater with a Badgers and Wildflowers motif.

Los Angeles resident Nicollette Knight made a name for herself in 2006, at just 18 years old, when she released a cdr of six tracks herself, produced by Keri Keli (who was also involved with Big Bang Babies, L.A. Guns and Pretty Boy Floyd). The EP featured a few cover versions as well as original material. One of the cover versions on offer was a version of Kim Wilde’s Kids in America.
Although the EP was received positively by critics, Nicollette didn’t get an offer from any major label and disappeared from the music scene again.
Television series starring David Hasselhoff. When a policeman is mortally wounded, he is taken in by a millionaire who puts him back on his crime solving feet with a new identity and a computer-controlled car.
Kim Wilde appeared in a 1985 episode with a part of her music video for The Second Time. The episode was entitled Knight Racer and was first aired on 29 November 1985 during the fourth season of the series.
Knebworth House is a country house, located in Knebworth. It has been the home of the Lytton family since 1490, when Thomas Bourchier sold the reversion of the manor to Sir Robert Lytton. Knebworth House was originally a red-brick Late Gothic manor house, built round a central court as an open square. In 1813-16 the house was reduced to its west wing, which was remodelled in a Tudor Gothic style by John Biagio Rebecca for Mrs Bulwer-Lytton, and then was transformed in 1843-45 by Henry Edward Kendall Jr. into the present Tudor Gothic structure. Much of the interior was redesigned by Sir Edwin Lutyens, who simplified the main parterre. A herb garden was drawn by Gertrude Jekyll in 1907 but not planted until 1982. In short: every generation of the Lytton family added something of their own style and taste, making the building a walk through over 500 years of British history.
Its most famous resident was Edward Bulwer-Lytton, the Victorian author, dramatist and statesman, who embellished the gardens in a formal Italianate fashion. He used to host parties in Knebworth House with famous guests such as Oscar Wilde. Other characters who have visited the building since then were people like Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill and Noel Gallagher.
The grounds include tourist attractions such as an adventure playground, mini railway (closed in 2012) and dinosaur park and host various events including classic car rallies, the annual Salvo Fair of architectural salvage and, since 1974, major open air rock and pop concerts from the likes of The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Paul McCartney, Genesis, Mike Oldfield, The Beach Boys, Deep Purple, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Dire Straits, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Iron Maiden and Oasis.
Kim’s family has celebrated various events at Knebworth House, including Kim’s 21st birthday. In 2014 and 2015, Kim Wilde, Ricky Wilde, Scarlett Wilde, Neil Jones and Mark Rapson performed a handful of Christmas concerts at Knebworth House in front of just 100 people each.
Small town, just north of Welwyn Garden City, where the Select Sound Studios were established. Contrary to what some people think, this is not the town where Kim and her family actually live. Knebworth House is also located here.
