This is the world of Kim Wilde!

[Translated for Wilde Life by Krasimira]

With the release of her eighth album ‘Love is’, Kim Wilde is ready to contend for the throne of the pop-music amongst women. With the support of the whole Wilde family (the songwriters father Marty and brother Ricki, mother Joyce the manager), she is just unbeatable. Now the world takes up with a delight the next episode of the success story, started in 1981…
Marty Wilde is a famous rock star at the end of the 50s and the beginning of 60s, with hits like ‘Endless Dream’, ‘Donna’, ‘Teenager In Love’, ‘Sea of Love’ and ‘Bad Boy’. So, coming from a family like that, it is not a surprise that Kim follows in her father’s footsteps.
It is an anecdote already how her career started. Her brother Ricki was recording his album in the RAK company and asked his sister to record the backing vocals for the tracks something she is constantly doing for her father as a teenager. Suddenly, while the recordings were made, Micki Most owner of RAK studios entered. He heard and saw the blond Kim and the rest is now a history. A classical example of the old epigram ‘Veni, Vidi, Vici’ I came, I saw, I conquered.
Right after Ricki and Marty wrote the song ‘Kids In America’ there were like thunderstruck. This was the first but definitely not the last time when from they shouted ‘Eureka’.
Included in her first album, ‘Kids In America’ was released as a single in 1981 and sold in 2 million copies. A flood of hits like ‘Chequered Love’, ‘Cambodia’, and ‘View From A Bridge’ followed. Kim Wilde releases two more albums after her debut on the RAK label ‘Select’ and ‘Catch As Catch Can’ and in June 1984 she signs with MCA, which helps her to become a real superstar. Except for being a debut for MCA, the album ‘Teases And Dares’ for the first time presents Kim as a songwriter (‘Fit In’ and ‘Shangri-La’).
Strange is it may see, but it takes quite some time until Kim Wilde turns from a British hit phenomenon into a real ‘kid in America’. This becomes a fact with the single release of ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’ in 1986, which immediately finds a place into the Billboard chart. Supporting Michael Jackson in his ‘Bad’ tour in 1988 is the next achievement in her career 34 shows in 5 months, and her sixth album ‘Close’ is sold in 15 million copies worldwide. Five hit singles show up from this album – ‘Hey Mr. Heartache’, ‘Never Trust A Stranger’, ‘Stone’, etc., which made her the most successful British female star ever, with even more achievements than Sandy Shaw and Dusty Springfield.
Europe has always met Kim Wilde with open arms Great Britain, France, Scandinavia, Switzerland, Netherlands and Germany just admire her. A bit scared from the flop of her last album ‘Love Moves’, the people from MCA are a bit frightened to go ahead with the release of her next album ‘Love Is’, but on May 18 it became a fact. The first single ‘Love Is Holy’ stormed the charts immediately. The second single ‘Who Do You Think You Are’ is scheduled for release later this month and in the end of August the market will enjoy ‘Million Miles Away’.
