Kim Wilde is a Real Wild Child. At the end of her first Dutch concert in years she shakes this Iggy Pop cover carelessly out of her sleeve. Kim Wilde can rock and roll, but enjoys making hitparade pop more. The only thing her backing band, including brother Ricky on keyboards, has to do is play the hits and the charm of the Love Blonde does the rest. Classics like Kids in America and Cambodia can not be missed, but also hits from a more recent era, like the Belinda Carlisle's Heaven is a place on earth- influenced Love is Holy are nicely executed. Kim sounds just as much irresistible and like she has a cold as ever. Only when she gets over-enthused she screams like a kitchen maid. But her spontaneity is real. After more than 13 years in the business she still can't believe that all the applause from the sold out Vredenburg is meant for her. All the more reason to love Kim.
