First Dutch double concert by Nena and Kim Wilde in Saasveld

It had to be the last song of the double header: Anyplace anywhere anytime… Nena and Kim Wilde, two pop icons from the Eighties were on stage at the festival Saasveld Live! And they didn’t disappoint.

During the last song together they sang the song they recorded together years ago. The audience – some 4000 people – had longed for it.

The audience enjoyed all the old hits from the two stars. First Kim Wilde performed, then Nena did. They were never on stage together in the Netherlands. 1300 Germans had come to Saasveld for the concert.

For many visitors it was youth sentiment. They had danced on the music as a teenager, or played the records on their turntables until they were grey. Like Patrick Korf from Hengelo, who used to idolise Wilde. He had goosebumps when the intro of ‘Cambodia’ started. “I feel it came too early in the concert. It’s a song with so much power. I would have liked to hear it later in the set. But she was totally great, just like in the old days.”
