Kim Wilde has released many songs during her career. Some of them have been covered by other artists. On Cover Friday, Wilde Life presents cover versions of Kim Wilde songs. This week: Hot Rod Linkun.
You will find many covers of 'Kids in America', 'Cambodia' and even 'You came' when you search for covers of Kim Wilde songs, but other singles are less well rediscovered by other acts. It's always refreshing when a band decides to take the path less trodden and go for a different song instead.
This is exactly what the 'Ramonescore' band Hot Rod Linkun did, when they recorded a cover version of KIm Wilde's second single, 'Chequered love'. It is one of the tracks of their 2011 album 'Lowering the standard', which they describe as 'Bratty whining, dirty guitars, '60s pop rip offs. They all sound the fucking same, 2 minute blasts about detention, girls and headbanging'. Hot Rod Linkun hails from Leicester and consists of Aron J. Hallam (all instruments) and Hickory Slim (drums). You can hear their cover of Chequered love here.
