Throwback Thursday


This week Kim Wilde received the BASCA Gold Badge of Merit award. It's not the first time Kim received an award: her house still contains many silver, gold and platinum discs as well as awards from various countries, not forgetting the gold medal she won at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2005 of course!

The oddest award has to be the smurfs she received from the German pop magazine Pop/Rocky during the early eighties. The first time she received the award was in 1982. The 'Goldener Hammerschlumpf' ('Golden hammersmurf') was given to her as singer of the year. You can see posing with that one in the picture below. Kim actually has three smurfs: in 1983 she received the silver award, and in 1984 she was number one again, receiving another golden smurf. But it's never as good as the first time, of course...
