Kim Wilde's first records were written and produced by her father and brother, Marty and Ricky. The three of them have had a great influence on the music world, as this regular series 'Wilde World' shows.
The Marty Wilde composition 'Your friend' has appeared in this blog a couple of times already. It was recorded by the Roemans and George McCurn. Another version appeared, also in 1964, as a recording by Mal Ryder & the Spirits. This band consisted of Mal Ryder, Vode Chequer, Peter Relton and Mick Charleton. On the strength of two single releases, they went to tour in Germany. This tour was rather stressful, causing the band to break up soon thereafter.
Mal Ryder went on to join The Primitives, who became successful in Italy, where Mal Ryder also found success as a solo artist, appearing in several San Remo festivals.
