Oh Darling

Song written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. It was released by the Beatles on the 1969 album ‘Abbey Road’. It appeared as a single in Central America and Japan only. The song is one of several tracks on ‘Abbey Road’ that have never been performed onstage by McCartney or any other of the Beatles to date.

Kim Wilde performed a version of the song together with Jools Holland and his band for the 23 April 2018 edition of his radio show on BBC Radio 2.

Kim about ‘Oh Darling’

I’ve been listening to that song since I was nine years old. ‘Abbey Road’ came into the house via my dad and I’ve never sung it. I sung it in my head. ‘Kim Wilde sings the blues’, it’s got legs, doesn’t it? After my death metal album. I’ve got it all planned.

Lyrics

Oh! Darling, please believe me
I’ll never do you no harm
Believe me when I tell you
I’ll never do you no harm

Oh! Darling, if you leave me
I’ll never make it alone
Believe me when I beg you
Don’t ever leave me alone

When you told me
You didn’t need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and cried
When you told me
You didn’t need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and cried

Oh! Darling, please believe me
I’ll never make it alone
Believe me when I tell you
I’ll never do you no harm

When you told me
You didn’t need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and cried
When you told me
You didn’t need me anymore
Well you know I nearly broke down and cried

Oh! Darling, please believe me
I’ll never let you down
Believe me when I tell you
I’ll never do you no harm
