It was originally released in 1970 by Stevie Wonder, recorded for Motown's Tamla label. The song spent six weeks at number one on the US R&B chart and peaked at number three on the US Pop chart. In the same year, the song was also released on the album of the same name.
Kim Wilde sang the song on February 25, 1995 in the last episode of the TV programme Don't forget your toothbrush, and once again on August 31, 2006 during the radio programme Jammin'. On September 27, 2019 she performed the song together with Benny Smith during a charity concert in Hitchin. She has never made a studio recording of this track.
