Wonderful World

Song written by Sam Cooke, Lou Adler and Herb Alpert. The song was first attributed to the pseudonym “Barbara Campbell” who was Sam Cooke’s high school sweetheart. It was first recorded by Cooke in 1959 for his 1960 album, ‘The wonderful world of Sam Cooke’. It was also recorded by Herman’s Hermits and had a hit with it in 1965.

Kim performed this track live with Midge Ure and his band at the Rock-a-Baby concert in 1991, and again with guitarist Benny Smith on 27 September 2019.

Lyrics

Don’t know much about history
Don’t know much about biology
Don’t know much about a science book
Don’t know much about the French I took
What I do know is I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world it would be

I don’t know much about the middle ages
If there’s a fiction then I’m turning the pages
Don’t know much about the rise and fall
I don’t know much about nothing at all
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be

Now I don’t claim to be an A-student
But I’m trying to be
I think that maybe by being an A-student, baby
I’ll win your love for me

I don’t know much about the middle ages
If there’s a fiction then I’m turning the pages
Don’t know much about the rise and fall
I don’t know much about nothing at all
But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be

But I do know that I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be
What a wonderful world this would be
What a wonderful world this would be
