To mark the sixtieth birthday of photographer Anton Corbijn, the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague is organising a retrospective entitled 'Hollands Deep'. You can also see Kim in this exhibition.
The exhibition features highlights from all of Corbijn’s series. It starts with the grainy black-and-white photos he took of musicians in the 1970s and ’80s and show how he constantly expanded his horizon to address new themes in later series.
Photographs of U2, Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Kurt Cobain and many other rock heroes can be seen in the Museum, as well as one photograph of Kim Wilde, which according to the information provided there was taken in London in 1980 (This was, of course, at least a year later). That photograph, like only on or two others, is presented on its own, as you can see in the photograph provided here. The photograph is also printed in the accompanying book '1-2-3-4', which can also be ordered online at Amazon.co.uk.
In 2010, Corbijn revealed in a birthday message to Kim: "I had a crush on you when we met!!! Shock horror, finally revealed." He took many more photographs of her, which were used on the sleeves of View from a bridge and Child come away, as well as a calendar for the year 1983, which was sold by the official fanclub in 1982 and 1983.
The exhibition takes place at the Gemeentemuseum and Museum of Photography in The Hague, Netherlands until June 21, 2015. For more information, visit this webpage.
