Kim Wilde heels up for auction

Kim Wilde heels up for auction

July 9, 2012

Kim Wilde helps local charity by donating a pair of autographed French Connection heels. The auction starts today and will close on July 15.

The shoes are being auctioned off to raise funds for leading orthopaedic charity The Horder Centre in East Sussex as part of their Celebrity Shoe Auction. You can bid on them via this page on eBay.

Other stars from the world of showbiz who have donated shoes, include DJ Norman Cook, Olympic ice skating gold medalist Jayne Torvill, TV Presenter Nick Knowles, authors Sophie Kinsella and Peter James and much-loved Forces’ sweetheart Dame Vera Lynn. Sports shoes on auction include a pair of rugby boots from the 2011 Rugby World Cup donated by Lewis Moody, tennis shoes from Serbian star Ana Ivanovic, football boots from Fulham player David Stockdale and Brighton’s defender Tommy Elphick.

You now have a chance to bid for these shoes, and by doing so raise money to create several new woodland trails in the grounds of The Horder Centre in Crowborough, East Sussex. One of the trails will be adapted for the disabled and another will have outdoor gym equipment and both will be open, not only to patients, but to local schools and the community.

Diane Thomas, Chief Executive at The Horder Centre, said: “We’re all really excited about the shoe auction appeal which will help us create fantastic woodland trails that will benefit both patients and the local community. I hope as many people as possible will take part in the auction, and a huge thank you to all the generous celebrities who have donated shoes.”

Anyone wanting information about the auction can follow it on the Horder Centre Twitter page @thehordercentre or the Centre's official  Facebook page.

Update (July 17): After a week of bidding, Kim Wilde's heels went away for £82.00. The amount could have been higher if the item was shipped outside of the UK as well. As it stands, it is still a reasonable price for such a desirable item.
