Kim Wilde on RuPaul’s Drag Race

Earlier this year, the BBC in the UK started broadcasting season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, a TV show that originated in the United States and has been adapted in various countries. The show’s aim is to find the next “Drag Superstar”, with the winner occupying the traits of “charisma”, “uniqueness”, “nerve” and “talent”. RuPaul has stated that the show looks for an entertainer who can stand out from the rest.

In yesterday’s edition (episode 4 of the season), two contestants were set to lip-synch against one another to Kim Wilde’s ‘You Keep Me Hangin’ On’. Sister Sister and Ginny Lemon seemed to be up for the task, but Ginny Lemon suddenly left the stage. Speaking about their decision to abandon the lip-sync, Ginny said: “I was up against my Sister (Sister) and I just couldn’t. I love her too much.” The stage was taken over by Sister Sister who did a rather striking performance to the sound of the Kim Wilde song.

This episode was the last episode to be filmed before the pandemic. Episode five, broadcast next week, will address the seven month hiatus in filming that followed.
