Paul James and Ricky Wilde have written and recorded ‘Lonely Christmas Day’, a song that is part of a Just Giving campaign to raise funds and awareness for mental health and homeless charities. The song highlights the heightened feelings of loneliness and isolation felt by so many over the Christmas period. The single is available to download on all major streaming and social media platforms, including Spotify. A beautiful music video was created in collaboration with Denise Harrison, who fans will remember as the creator of the short film This is Depression, for which Kim and Ricky recorded the soundtrack. In the music video you will also spot a performance by Coldplay.
The story of Paul Jones is a remarkable one: he is CEO of a major motoring group and had never played a musical instrument until four years ago when he was rushed to hospital with a burst lung. He became close to death but recovered in an intensive care unit. According to him, he suddenly became convinced he had to become a singer after this episode. He has so far released two singles, ‘Ordinary Boy’ and ‘Too Late For Love’, which he co-wrote with Billy Lawry, brother of famous singer Lulu.
100% of funds raised through the campaign will go directly to outreach projects with true impact this Christmas including Dogs on the Streets, a national charity assisting the homeless and rough sleepers to find appropriate accommodation for themselves and their canine companions. Services operate weekly in major UK cities using a fully equipped mobile veterinary surgery vehicle allowing ease of access to dogs in need, ensuring all the essential items and services are provided for free each and every week. From food provisions to new harnesses and leads plus training and grooming sessions for these loyal and non-judgmental companions.
Donations for the campaign are very welcome. Check out the Just Giving campaign and, while you’re donating, listen to the beautiful track that can be seen and heard on that page.
