Wilde World: The Sparklings

Kim Wilde’s first records were written and produced by her father and brother, Marty and Ricky. The three of them have had a great influence on the music world, as this regular series ‘Wilde World’ shows.

Marty Wilde and Ronnie Scott were a great songwriting team, and they proved this by churning out songs for various artists and bands during the late 1960’s. One of their songs was ‘Running Forwards’, which appeared on the B-side of a single by Weather, entitled ‘Look In My Eyes’ (1969).

A year later, the Dutch band The Sparklings, best known for their work with Ben Cramer, recorded a cover version of ‘Running Forwards’ on their last single release, ‘Green Mellow Hill’. You can listen to their version of the song here.
